My artwork at Sprouts in Coppell

May 27th, 2012 - We have art class at school with Ms Kitts and we paint during that class. A few weeks ago, I painted something I called "Flowers Holding Hands" in class and it was selected as one of the paintings of the month. We have a local grocery store in Coppell called Sprouts. Every month, they display art work from one of the local Coppell ISD schools. In May, they showed artwork from my school, Mockingbird elementary and my painting was selected.

My parents took me to the store today to see the painting and I was really happy to see my artwork.

Career Day at School

May 22nd, 2012 - Today was Career Day at school and so we all came dressed in clothes we would wear to our work. I was contemplating between becoming a teacher, a Paleontologist  or a chef. Since I like to cook at home with my mother, I decided to go as a chef. Everyone in my class came dressed as what they want to be. You can see that most of them wanted to either be a teacher or a sports person. I like Career Day at school because it was like Halloween but not as scary. Too bad we did not get any candy

My First Piano Recital

May 16th, 2012 - Its been a busy week so far with the Rangers game on Monday, my last swim class for the season and today was my first Piano recital. I started taking Piano lessons earlier this year at the Coppell Conservatory. At the end of school year our teacher organizes a piano recital for all the kids that she teaches. In the weeks leading to the recital my teacher kept rehearsing the steps we had to do that day. We reached about 15 minutes before the event. My parents sat in the audience and I went and sat on the seat assigned to me. Piano recitals are somewhat formal events so I had to wear trousers, a shirt and shoes so I looked good Smile.

At around 6, Ms April introduced her class to the audience. We were around 20 kids of all ages starting with the youngest (that's me) and ending with a 16 year old girl who was leaving to another city. Since I was the youngest, I got to go first. I went up on stage, took my bow, sat down and played by piece. I was not nervous or scared and I finished my part without any mistakes. The crowded applauded and I went back and took my seat again. After that all the kids took their turns and the music became more and more difficult. I hope someday, I can play like those kids did. It was really cool.

Coppell ISD Rangers Day 2012

May 14th, 2012 - It seems that every year the Coppell ISD has a night out at the Rangers Stadium and the kids from the school get to go out onto the field and meet the players too. This year, our night out was on the 14th of May and the Kansas City Royals were in town. My dad and I went for the game today as my mother was busy in the evening. We reached a little late due to the traffic and were not able to go out onto the field (perhaps next year).

We found our seats quite easily and we were sitting on the Upper Deck right behind the home plate so we had a good clear view of the game. A few minutes after the game started, my principal Mrs Mitchell came and sat in our row and I was pretty excited to see her. After a few more minutes, I was absolutely thrilled to see my teacher, Mrs Moore and her family come and sit right next to us. It was a great feeling. I met my classmates Anu there and saw many other kids from Mockingbird and also from the Coppell ISD. It was really cool. I ate my customary hot dog at the park.

A few days ago, Josh Hamilton had scored 4 home runs in one game and we got to take a picture with that bat. That was great too.

Since I had school the next morning, we left early. When we got home, we realized that the Rangers had lost the game but thats OK, they are still way on top of their Division.

Coppell Bounce at Wagon Wheel Park 2012

May 12th, 2012 - Every year the city of Coppell has an outdoor event called "Bounce". Well, you if guessed inflatable rides and bounce houses, you guessed right! The event was held at the Wagon Wheel park where I used to go for my soccer games. They have around 10-12 bounce houses setup in the park. Some of for kids 5 and under and the rest are for the grown up kids. We got there around 11 in the morning and it was not very crowded. The lines were quite small and I got to go on all the rides. There was an Army Boot Camp bounce house, a fire station, a Hawaiin bounce house and many more.

After some fun on the bounce houses, I decided to get my face painted. There was a long line but we waited patiently for our turn. The lady was nice and asked me what I would like to be and I said "Batman". She painted a really cool batman. After some face painting, it was back to the bounce houses. By lunch time, I was tired and hungry and the Coppell Police department had some free hot dogs, chips and drinks for us which was really nice.

After lunch, I got to go inside the Coppell Fire Department's fire engines and take a look. They were really cool. I also got to mean the Chick Fil-A Eat More Chickin Cow!!

Thank you Coppell for organizing this and I am looking forward to the Coppell Bounce Event of 2013.
