Happy Independence Day
July 4th, 2008 - The 4th of July is Independence Day in the US and its a holiday weekend. My dad was planning on taking us to some place out of town but decided to stay back home. We stayed at home and watched some movies and in the evening we went out to do some shopping and see if we could see some fireworks. The places were very crowded and they felt its hard to manage me in the crowds and so we sat at home in the evening to watch some movies. Tomorrow we will be going to the Fort Worth Zoo. |
My First Day at School
July 1st, 2008 - Today is my official first day at the Rockbrook Montessori. My parents are probably more nervous than me. I took a bath and then my parents did a small pooja to mark this day. I also asked "Swamideva" to wish me the best as I started my life in school. At least another 20 years of this. We reached the school at around 8 AM so that we could meet with the director and also do the paperwork. Around 8:15, the students started to come in and my parents took me to meet my new teacher. I came to know that her name is Lindsey. My parents tried to leave and I realized that and started to cry but Lindsey asked them to leave. The teacher has a certain schedule for all of us and I think I disrupted her schedule because oy my crying and also I wanted to run and pull all the toys. She was really smart and decided to take us out and then bring us back in a little later and all that helped me calm down. |
There was another girl in the class who was crying a lot because she was missing one of her teachers who has gone away to India on a vacation.
My parents came around 11 to pick me up and I was happy to see them. They were happy to see me and happy to see that I had fun in the school. The teachers said that for my first day, I was pretty fine. Lets see what tomorrow brings.
Trip to IKEA Frisco
Aug 31st, 2008 - A couple of months ago, I ripped the door out of the Television stand at home and my parents decided that it was time to go and buy a new one. On the spur of the moment, we decided to go to Ikea in Frisco. Its a 20 minute drive for us and close to the Stonebriar Mall where we had been yesterday. When we got there, it was just an hour before closing time and there was a mad rush. It was a long-weekend and that too at the end of the day, not a great idea Dad!! We managed to navigate through the crowd and bought our TV stand. After standing for a while, we managed to get back home before sunset. Amma had made some nice Kozhi Roti for dinner and I enjoyed it. Thanks Amma. |
Fun at Stonebriar Center in Frisco
Aug 30th, 2008 - Labor Day Weekend begins today and my parents decided to go to the Stonebriar Mall in Frisco. We had seen it before but never went there. The day started off on a bad note as my Dad's slippers broke just as we reached the mall. Luckily he was able to get a nice pair of slippers at the Macy's store there. After that we spent the rest of the morning in the mall. I had some Dippin Dots ice-cream. My dad took me to the Disney Store and he got me a Mickey Mouse and Friends T-Shirt (which I did not want to take out once I reached home). We walked around the mall, did some shopping, ran up and down the escalaors. I really enjoy that. |
We found that there was a skating rink as well and there were lots of kids learning to skate. Someday I hope to learn how to skate. At one end of the mall we also found a children's play area. I played there for a while and then my parents decided that it as time to go home. This was like any other mall and I had a good idea, especially in the play area. I hope to come back here soon someday.
Trip to a New Doctor
Aug 27th, 2008 - I have had a lingering cough that does not seem to go away and so my parents decided to take me to another doctor to get a 2nd opinion. This doctor was a little far away compared to our existing doctor who is just around the corner. The doctor's office was big and they had a lot of story books to read. The docotr took a look at me and said that I seemed fine and it will get better within a few days. She also said that I needed to get a couple of shots and ebfore I knew it, they got me...... |
Toddler Games on the iPhone
Aug 24th, 2008 - My parents both have an iPhone and they both download games for me and I have a lot of fun with those games. The iPhone is a great phone as I can play games with just my fingers and I do not have to learn to press any keys. In case you are wondering how my parents allow me to play with the phone, they make sure its in the airplane mode and they are always with me. While these games are not really toddler games, they do keep me entertained. |
iDoodle2Lite - One of my favorite things to do is play with my doodle and my parents found a Doodle for me on the iPhone. The best part is that I can draw with my finger and I can draw in color. I like this one.
BubleWrap - This is a stupid game but can bring a smile to my face once in a while. The game is like a real bubble wrap and all I do is pop the bubbles with my finger.
Jirbo Match - This game is rather difficult for me but with my parent's help, I am able to play it. In this games, there are many cards that have pictures of animals on them. The cards are placed upside down and I can open two at a time. The cards remain open when I pick two of the same. I should be able to play this well in a few months.
Expando - This is a game for adults but kids may like it. Once you press your finger on the screen, a big smiling bubble begins to form. Its really cute.
