Dec 26th,  2008 - One of the most famous US landmarks is the Alamo in San Antonio. It was the place where the Battle of the Alamo was fought here. Since it was a long weekend, the Alamo was pretty crowded and it took us about 30 minutes to get in and see the insides of the Alamo. After that we spent some time in the garden around the Alamo before returning to our hotel room. |

Trip to San Antonio Riverwalk
- Details
- Category: December 2008
Dec 26th,  2008 - We decided to go to San Antonio and see the Alamo and the Riverwalk area. We left home early in the morning hoping to get to San Antonio a little after lunch time. It took us about 5 hours to get to San Antonio and for the most part it was a smooth drive. We got to the hotel, took a brief break and decided to go to see the Riverwalk and the Alamo which were very close to our hotel. The weather was very pleasant and we were able to roam around without any warm clothing. We walked around the Riverwalk area which was very crowded. We stopped at the Texas Cafe for a quick bite where we had some nice Mushroom Fritters and Mac & Cheese before we headed to the Alamo. After we went and saw the Alamo, we went back to the hotel room to freshen up. We returned to the Riverwalk after sunset and the place was even more crowded. Since it was a holiday weekend and a Friday night, there was virtually no space to move. Some of the restaurants have 2-3 hour waits. We managed to find a place where we could grab a bit before we headed home. We could not ride the boat because the wait time was over 2 hours. Can you imagine me standing in line for 2 hours. If you can get 2 minutes from me, that would be an achievement. Next time we will come at a quieter time. Ayush Anna will be coming from Des Moines tomorrow so we will return back. |

Trip to Dinosaur World in Glen Rose

Dec 20th,  2008 - After our trip to Fossil Rim, we decided to stop over at something called the Dinosaur World which is in Glen Rose, Texas. We were warned that this place is not that great but my parents decided to give it a shot anyway. The Dinosaur World is nothing but a large piece of land with a lot of real life plastic dinosaurs. Unless you are really a big fan of dinosaurs and know something about it, you can finish the entire exhibit in about 15-20 minutes. We saw all the dinosaurs of different sizes and various colors as we walked around the park and then we bought a few toys at the store and headed home. Dinosaur World also had a museum, a fossil dig area and a play area for kids. The cost of the tickets is about $12 and not really worth it. There is a Dinosaur State Park close by where actual dinosaur world |

Dec 20th, Â 2008 - My parents took me to a wildlife park close to Dallas called the Fossil Rim Adventure Park. Its about and hour and a half from where we live. We reached the park at around 11:30 in the morning. We bought the tickets and along with that we also got a bag of animal food. The park is a lot of fun, we can drive around the park in our own car with the windows down and the animals come close to the window looking for food. You will see from the pictures. On the trip I saw a lot of animals
