Trip to the Irving Hindu Temple
Mar 16th, 2008 - My parents wanted to visit the Hindu Temple in Irving since we moved to a new place. The temple is very close to where we live so my parents were very happy. Since it was a Sunday, there were many people at the temple. The temple is very clean and big. We were just in time for the main Aarti. I sat and listened to the Bhajan and then stood in line to take the tirth and prasad. After that I said "Swami Deva Hooood Kari" and asked for blessings. There is a small playground in the back of the temple for children to play and I ran around the ground for a while before we left home. It was a beautiful sunny day as you can see from the pictures. I will be coming here on a regular basis. |
Moving to our new apartment
Mar 8th, 2008 - For the past week we have been living in a hotel because our apartment was not ready for us to move in. Today we got the keys to our apartment and we checked out of our hotel and moved into our apartment in the morning. The entire apartment was empty because our stuff had not yet arrived from Los Angeles which was great for me as it meant unrestricted access to the entire house. I had a great time running around the house, opening all the door, running in the kitchen, pulling things out etc. I know my joy will be shortlived because soon the gates and knobs will arrive. Let me make hay while the sun shines. |
Let it snow, Let it snow
Mar 3rd, 2008 - I was born in sunny California and have never experienced a snowfall in my life, although I saw some snow when I was in Des Moines last year. It does not snow much in Dallas, maybe once or twice a year and it happened 2 days after I landed here. I think the Snow Gods were waiting for me to arrive. My dad took me out and I felt the snow flakes on my fingers. There were some other people at the hotel who were also seeing snow for the first time and they were jumping and screaming like little kids. I really enjoyed the snow but my dad had to take me in as I was not adquately protected. |
Goodbye Los Angeles, Hello Dallas
Mar 1, 2008 - The day has finally dawned for us to leave Los Angeles and head to Dallas. I was born here and this will be my first long distance move for me. We woke up early and made sure we were packed up and ready to go. We took a shuttle from the hotel to the AA terminal, checked in and took our flight to Dallas. My parents have had a tough time with me on a flight and so they were a bit nervous and well prepared to keep me entertained. They were armed with food, drinks, DVDs, toys and anything they could do to keep me busy. |
We had a smooth flight with no trouble from me and we arrived in Dallas in the evening. We picked up our luggage and headed to our hotel in Irving. A new chapter in my life starts in Dallas. Wish me luck.
Doing the laundry
Apr 29th, 2008 - My mother is always teaching me something. She teaches me some how to says some words, recognize things like animals etc and also allows me to do chores around the house. My latest fun job is doing the laundry. My mother usually does it right before I take my afternoon nap and what I do is is running to the laundry room and start shouting "Machi", "Machi". My parents were surprised when they heard me identify the soap as "Tide". I guess I learnt from watching the TV. |
The Big Job
Apr 23rd, 2008 - This is a topic I did not want to discuss on the blog but I guess I must. My parents got me a potty today and I suppose they will start the potty training from tomorrow. I immediately liked the color of the potty, its blue in color and matches the mats in the bathroom. As you can see, I sat on it and gave it a test drive. Wish me luck. I can see the look on my parents "THIS IS A BIG JOB!! " |
