Visit to the Space Needle
June 4th, 2007 - The Space Needle is a tower in Seattle and is a major landmark of the Pacific Northwest and is a symbol of Seattle. The Space Needle was constructed in 1962 and is about 605 ft tall. My uncle livs very close to the Needle and so we went there today in the evening to see the sunset. We parked a couple of blocks away and walked to the Needle. Since it was a week day and also relatively late, there was no crowd at all. We bought our tickets and then went to the elavator. |
The elevator takes us to the Observation Deck which is at a height of 520 ft. From there we were able to get a 360degree view of Seattle, its surrounding mountains, water bodies. It was rather cold and windy but I had a great time there. We took lots of pictures. When my parents let me down, I ran all over the observation deck. We finally returned home a little before sunset.
Visit to the Microsoft Visitor Center/Museum
June 7th 2007 - Microsoft is one of the world's biggest software companies and I was lucky enough to visit their Employee Store and their Visitor Center. My uncle used to work there but he left Microsoft a few months ago. We went there to see their Visitor Center which basically is a museum with the history of how computers and Microsoft have evolved over time. It also gives us a glimpse of some things in the future. It was a small center and we spent a few minutes there. I got to take a picture with all the Microsoft founders too. :-) |
We also met one of my uncle's friend, Campbell which came there to help us buy some software at Employee prices. My father said the prices were really good. My mother purchased a "Microsoft Kid" shirt for me. How nerdy!!
Mukilteo Lighthouse
June 3rd, 2007 - The Mukilteo Lightouse is a lighthouse just outside of Seattle in the town of Mulkiteo. We drove there to spend the Sunday afternoon. It was a nice scenic drive. On the way, we passed one of the Boeing Assembly plants. It was cool to see the bih hangars. The lighthouse itself was very beautiful and with the blue sky in the background it looked really nice. We stood on the lawn, took some pictures and then had lunch at Ivars. The food was OK but the restaurant setting was very nice. I was very unhappy to be strapped to the highchair and wanted to run around. My parents and my uncle had to take turns to look after me.
Lunch at the Spice Route, Seattle
June 2nd, 2007 - Spice Route is a new restaurant that opened in Bellevue and my uncle thought that it would be a good idea to go there for lunch. We got there a little before noon and managed to get a table very quickly. They had a buffet with lots of tasty options with both Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian dishes. I ate some Naan and a sample of various dishes that my parents fed me. My parents and uncle enjoyed the food a lot. I sat in my high chair for a few minutes but after that I wanted to run around the restaurant. They had a little stage in one corner and I started running on it and it kept me busy. |
It was good we came in early because around 1, there was a huge mob outside waiting for place. Seems like this place is very good.
Visiting Seattle
June 1st, 2007 - Seattle is where my uncle Sachin lives and my mother and I had never visited Seattle before, so this trip was long pending. We took a Friday evening flight into Seattle and got in late around 10 PM. I was very unhappy in the flight and kept crying and my poor parents had to take me to the back of the flight to keep me entertained. The air-stewardesses were very nice to me. One elder American gentleman spoke to me in Hindi and said "Sab theek ho jayega beta". Strange but true. |
I am excited to be in Seatlle and am looking forward to visiting some of the landmarks like the Space Needle, the Public Market, Snoqualmie Falls and other interesting places. Please keep reading my blogs.
