Trip to Citadel Outlet Mall
8th July 2006 - My grandmother is going back next weekend and so we went out for some last minute shopping. The Citadel Outet Mall is in the city of Commerce and has a lot of stores there. They recently opened a number of stores at the onset of summer. They have the usual outlet stores like Nautica, Tommy Hilfiger, Perfumania, Old Navy etc. We spent most of the day at the stores and at the end of the day, we had a trunck full of stuff. I also got my first tan. It was a really sunny and hot day and I was wearing this sleveless T-Shirt and I got my first California tan. My tan looks cool Dude!!! We missed the 3rd place game between Portugal and Germany |
Teething Troubles
5th July 2006 - Every one says, I am too small to get teeth, but I am teething already. I have two small teeth growing out from my lower jaw. When I open my mouth its pretty clear. My parents were very excited and they immediately got me teething related toys. The only problem with teething is that I drool like crazy. Most of my clothes, bibs etc get completely soaked in no time. I also keep biting into my jaw and make funny faces. My parents are laughing at me all the time. So far I have not had any other problems because of this and I hope I don't have any more. |
Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest 2006
July 4th 2006 - I woke up this 4th of July morning and saw my family watching the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating contest on TV. This is an annual Hot Dog eating contest that has become very popular now because of Takeru Kobayashi, the reigning World Champion. The Americans have been unable to beat him and they attempt to do so every year but have not succeeded in the last 5 years. Today's event was a close contest but Kobayashi won the contest with a record setting 53.5 hotdogs in 12 minutes. Except for the second place winner, the rest were not even in the running. You can read more about him here. For once I was happy to be feeding on milk. |
4th of July Fireworks at Marina Del Rey
4th July 2006 - Today is the July 4th 2006, Independance Day in the United States. Most people celebrate the day by having a barbeque party and end the day watching some fireworks. Most of the cities and towns around the country have a fireworks show. The city when I live right now, had a fireworks show in the harbor. My parents, grandmother and I walked to the Burton Chase Park behind our apartment. There was a huge crowd of people there to watch the show. My parents were very happy that they could walk there as parking was a real nightmare. The fireworks show started at 9:00 and ended after about 20 minutes. It was a nice show with lots of different fireworks most of which had the Red, White and Blue color along with the stars to mark the occaision. |
I must have got bored as I feel asleep during the show. 9 PM is around my bedtime. This was a day to remember as it was my first Independance Day.
Peek A Boo, I See you
July 3rd 2006 - It's Monday, the 3rd of July and my father has to work. I thought it was a long weekend and we would go out someplace, but I guess we have to stay at home today. What a let down, but then there's tomorrow Independance Day and I am looking forward to the fireworks. I had a pretty relaxing day today, took a long bath, slept for a while, watched some TV and read a book (dont believe me, see the picture below). Don't I look cute in my bathrobe. I have learnt to lay Peek-A-Boo, I-See-You now and my parents have a lot of fun with me doing that. In our native tongue its called "Kooki Acchi" |
Trip to South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa
July 2nd, 2006 - Los Angeles, the city of Malls, malls and more malls. People here love to shop and there are some really big malls here. The South Coast Plaza is definitely one of the biggest here in Southern California. The mall is really huge and 1 day is not enough to look at the stores. We reached the mall at around 11 AM. It was my lunch time and I had my 6 oz of milk and was energized for the rest of the day. |
We spent the morning going to the different stores like Gap, Gap Baby, Gymboree, Banana Republic, Sears. My parents had lunch at a new restaurant Z Tejas. This is the first time, they went to that restaurant and they liked the food and the service. After lunch we browsed around the mall. There is a section of the mall that has all the high end designer stuff like Cartier, YSL, Tiffanys etc. If you like that kind of stuff, its probably the place for you.
Anyone planning to stay there should book a hotel around the Plaza. I happened to see the Westin South Coast Plaza right opposite the mall.
