More Teeth
Oct 3rd, 2006 - I got my lower two teeth a couple of months ago and they have grown quite well. Now my upper two teeth have also come out. So now I have 4 teeth for the world to see. I don't think these teeth troubled me as much as the time I got my lower two teeth. I was visibly more irritated and drooled a lot more the last time. To honor the arrival of my new teeth, my parents have got me a baby tooth brush and some baby toothpaste. Yes, we have tooth-paste too like you adults. Its flouride free and safe to swallow. I don't know how to spit as yet. I can throw up but not spit. You can see the picture of my first tooth brush and tooth paste. |
My Cousin Ayush
Oct 2nd 2006 - My cousin Ayush is visting me from Des Moines this week. He is about a year older than I am. I las saw him a few months ago in San Diego before he moved back to Iowa. Its fun to have another child in the house. I seem to be distracted watching him running around the house. Since my aunt is also in the house, I have plenty of faces to see and I tend to be happier when I see faces. He will be around for the next 10 days and I am hoping I can learn some tips and tricks to do more Masti. After all, boys will be boys. |
Happy Birthday Aunt Seema
Oct 2nd, 2006 - Today is my Aunt Seema's birthday. Aunt Seema is my mother's eldest sister and she lives in Bangalore. We called her and wished her well. My cousins Neha and Anoushka must be all excited as they will get to cut the cake. I will be seeing them soon as I will be off to India in November. October 2nd also happens to be the birthday of the great Indian leader, Mahatma Gandhi. |
Horsing Around
Oct 1st, 2006 - Looks like I have progressed to the next stage before I learn to sit. I am now able to sit on all fours like a horse. I do this a number of times during the day and many times I sort of lose my balance and have to roll over. Its all a part of growing up and I am having a great time. Its Sunday today and I was expecting my Dad to be home, but he seems to have gone to the office. He was mentioning something about a 1.1.6 release which made no sense to me. He left home at 5 in the morning and came back at 5 in the evening. After he came home, we went to Target, got some groceries etc. I went to bed around 10 PM. My cousin Ayush should be arriving tomorrow afternoon. I am all excited. |
Ponthi Vaath
Nov 9th, 2006 - My great-grandmother waited patiently for about 5 hours in order to perform the Ponti Vaath function. The literal translation of the term Ponti Vaath is seeing the great grandchild under the light of a sacred flame. My uncle had arranged for a small function for our very close family so most of my grandmother's cousins and their children had come to attend. A Hindu priest commenced the function by first creating darkness in the room and then he recited some sacred chants. Once that was completed, he put a cloth in front of my great grandmother so that she could not see me. My mother brought me out without any clothes, apparently that is how its to be done. I did not seem to care much even though there were 25 people watching my strip-tease. |
Jetlag
Nov 6th, 2006 - My body clock has still not adjusted to the local time. I slept at 1 AM and was up by 5 AM and forced my parents to wake up as well. My mother gave me mild, changed my diapers and I was full form. Since this is the first time my grandmother has seen me since I was about a month old, she spent a lot of time playing with me. She has a big living room with lots of wide space for me to run around and play. I seemed to have a good time. The excitement was evident as I kept kicking my legs all day. My excitement seemed to wane as the day worn on and I was sleepy by around 8 PM. I got cranky and fell fast asleep. So far, my trip has been good and I have not fallen sick or become very cranky. Lets hope the rest of my trip remains the same. |
