Happy New Year
| Jan 1st, 2010 - Another year has gone by and a new year begins . I would like to wish all my family and friends a wonderful 2010. I will turn 4 this year, will learn swimming, learn how to ride a big bike (hopefully leave the training wheels), go to a big-boys class, learn to read bigger words, grow taller and who knows what other exciting things are ahead of me. I hope everyone has a 2010 as exciting as mine is shaping up to be. |
Bug Box at the Lowes Build and Grow in Carrollton
Aug 14th, 2010 - Most of the Lowes hardware stores (and Home Depot) too have a kids workshop of a regular basis where kids can come in and build something. Our local Lowes store in Carrollton has an event about once a month and my mom makes it a point to register me for it. Today the Build and Grow was to build a Bug Box and my Dad took me for it. We arrived a little before 10 AM when the event begins and there was already a decent crowd forming there. Since my mom had registered my name, we got into a separate line and quickly got our Bug Box kit, an apron and a hammer. We found a table to work on. My dad opened the kits and it had the instructions, the wooden pieces and nails to go with it. We read the instructions and I assembled it with my Dad's help. He then hit the nails on one side and I hit the nails on the other. The bug box was pretty simple and we finished it very quickly. After we finished it, we went to the table to collect my certificate of completion and a patch that my mom stitched on my apron. After that we walked around the store to do a bit of shopping and many of the associates were asking me about my box. I had a great time and I am looking forward to the next one in a few days. |
Shankar Ehsaan Loy Concert in Dallas 2010
July 31st, 2010 -This is a big weekend for me. Today was the Shakar Ehsaan Loy concert and tomorrow, I will be going to the Ringling Bros Circus. I love Bollywood music and three of the biggest musicians from the Hindi movie scene, Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendoza were having a concert in Dallas called Aman ki Aasha. My father had bought the tickets a few days ago because he knew I love their music. My favorite movie CD is Jhoom Barabar Jhoom and the music for that movie was composed by them. The show was at the Garland Special Events Center and was scheduled to start around 8 PM. We showed up there quite early were in our seats well before the show started. The show started promptly and began with Richa Sharma singing a few songs followed by Shauqat Ali. I guess it was my bed time and also he sang some slow songs and I felt right asleep. My parents were a bit sad as they thought I would miss the best part of the show. I slept through the 30 minutes among all that noise and work up with the main event showed up. They started the show with ..........Jhoom Barabar Jhoom of course and I was wide awake after that. They played many of my favorite songs from movies like JBJ, My Name is Khan, Rock On amongst other. |
The songs they played were
- Jhoom Barabar Jhoom
- Dil Chahta Hai
- Pretty Woman
- Rock On
- Mast Kalandar
- Bol Hulki Hulki
- Main Hoon Don
- Mitwa
- Kal Ho Na Ho
- Ma
- Breathless
The overall show was more than 3 hours long and it was amazing. It finally ended at around 11:30. By the time we got home, I was fast asleep. It was a great show.

Swimming Progess at Aquakids
July 22nd, 2010 - Its been a few months since I started going to swimming classes. After the initial few weeks of fear and crying, I have made good progress now and you can hopefully see some results. My teacher Miss Ashley has been very patient with me and I can swim a few feet on my own. She says that I am good with my hands but I am not kicking my feet as much as I should. Hopefully over the next few weeks, I will get stronger in the kicking department.
Happy 4th of July 2010
| July 4th, 2010 - This year I am celebrating the 4th of July in Clinton Mississippi. We are visiting my cousin's place and I am having a lot of fun. Today we had a potluck lunch at Vish uncle's house. He had invited a few people and we had a big pool party. At first I was afraid of the pool a little bit but all my cousins took me in and I had great fun. My 4 akka's, Angie, Sonali, Divya and Tanya and my cousin brother Jay took care of me in the pool. I had three "flotation" things who I called Floatie, Tubeie and Chairie as well to keep me afloat. Angie is a swim teacher and she was teaching me how to swim as well. We had a nice lunch, chicken kebabs, pulao, watermelon, followed by a 4th of July cake and ice-cream.The cake was baked by Tanya. After lunch, it was back into the pool again and we played volleyball. I was helping my cousin keep score. Maybe I was confusing her.We also made a lot of water balloons and threw it into the pool. Tanya make a small one and she called him "Junior". She is very funny and made me laugh a lot. Its the most I have ever been in water and I really enjoyed it. Thanks for everyone who took care of me. I will come back to Mississippi again. |

2010 NBA All Star Jam Session
| Feb 13th, 2010 - every year the NBA All Star game is held during the middle of the NBA season and this year the All Star Game was held in Dallas. My dad could not get tickets to the actual game but we got tickets to see something called the All Star Jam session. This was held at the Dallas Convention Center and we got the 2 PM slot. We arrived at 2 PM and it was very crowded. We went right in and the entire floor had all types of events going on. There were many games and booths and one could spend a few hours here collecting things. We spent a little over and hour and during that time we got to see the following NBA stars
Kobe Bryant and others were expected later that day. It was a long tiring day and we went home. The actual NBA All Star game is tomorrow at the Cowboys Stadium. |
