101st Day at School
| Feb 6, 2012 - Today is another milestone in our school year. It was the 101st day at school and so our school had the theme of the 101 Dalmations. Over the weekend, my parents and I prepared my Dalmations costume. It was quite hard to find a long white full-sleeve shirt in the stores but we managed to find a good half-sleeve shirt at one of the stores. My dad had the bright idea (turned out to be not so bright in the end) of trying to iron on some patches on the shirt but that did not go off very well, so we went about the old fashioned way...Paint!!. We went to the local Michael's store and bought some black paint and painted spots on the shirt. It dried overnight and we had a nice shirt ready to go. My parents came to the school to see the 101 Dalmations Parade where we walk around the school and the kids from the higher grades cheered us on. After we did 2 rounds around the school, we all went to the cafeteria to take some pictures. We had also made some dog ears in school on Friday so we looked really cute. My mom put a little black dot over my nose to help with the cute factor. My parents came to watch the parade and take pictures and I was really happy they did. 100 days of school, I have so many more to go. |
100th Day at School
| Feb 3, 2012 - 100 days of school. Today was the 100th day of school in my Kindergarten year. Its a big number but we made it this far or should say, our teacher made it this far. To celebrate our 100th day, we were giving a simple homework of bringing 100 items in a sandwich bag to school. It could be anything like paper clips, stickers, buttons, coins etc. I collected 4 things in sets of 25 and that was my homework. It was fun counting to 100. We also had a small party in our school to celebrate the milestone. We had some cookies, crackers, chips and other things. 100 days at school is pretty cool. I have had a good time so far and I love going to school. I like my friends and teachers and all the activities we do at school. I like being the teacher's helper and participating in "Where in the world is Team Hatrick?" Another few months and I will be in 1st grade. |
Gogo The Dino at Lowes Build and Grow
| Jan 28, 2012 - Today is a special day (yes its a Lowes Build and Grow Day as well) but its also my parent's wedding anniversary. Happy Anniversary Mommy and Daddy. Now that its out of the way, lets get back to my Build and Grow. Today is the 2nd BAG day for 2012 and we are building a dinosaur. Since my parents had already registered my name, it was easy for me to get my kit. Today's kit was a lot of fun because it was easy to build and there were a lot of stickers that we had to stick. I had a choice between making a real dinosaur or a cartoon dino. I preferred to make a cartoon dino because he is less scary. I am not scared but there were smaller kids so that's why. The cartoon dino had a lot of green and black spots around him and it took us a while to stick those stickers. I gave my dino the name "Gogo the Dino" and also told my dad that he had chicken pox. When we came out, we found that our car had a flat tire. The AAA guy came and fixed it. In the evening, we had a party at my friend Riya's house where I met my preschool friends Manav, Neerali and Siddharth too. We cut a cake to celebrate my parent's anniversary. It was a fun day. |
The Find the Landmark Game
| Jan 6, 2012 - Today I was a bit bored and so I decided to come up with a new game called "Find the Landmark". I think I was inspired by my most favorite show "The Amazing Race". Th game is quite simple really. You take two sheets of paper. On one paper, you need to write the name of a city and on the other paper you need to write the name of a famous landmark in that city. You create as many sets of these city and landmarks as you want. I created a few of them.
My first players were my parents and they had a lot of fun playing this game. They were able to find the landmarks. I will play this again soon with new landmarks. |
Celebrating the New Year with Phineas and Ferb
Jan 1, 2012 - First, I would like to wish all my friends and family a wonderful 2012. Its always nice to start the year with something exciting and my parents had a wonderful surprise for me. They had booked tickets to the Phineas and Ferb Live tour which happened to be passing through Dallas this weekend. We woke up a bit late (partying and all that stuff you know), had a nice good breakfast and was ready for the show. My mother had my "Phineas and Ferb" t-shirt ready to go as well. We had to drive to the city of Garland where the show was going to be held. There must have been 1000-1500 people at the show today. The show started on time and it had all the characters from the show including Phineas and Ferb (of course), Candace, Jeremy, Isabella, Stacy, Buford and Beljeet. Of course Perry and Dr Doofablahblah (I will call him Dr D) were there as well. The show was for about 90 minutes and was broken into 2 acts. Its mostly a musical act and they play a lot of the popular Phineas and Ferb songs such as Backyard Beach, Robot Riot, Everything's better with Perry and many other songs. They also had a cool Bollywood song too (see the video below). If you like Phineas and Ferb and their songs then you will love this show. I had a great time and it was a great way to kick off the new year. |
Game Box at the Lowes of Carrollton
Jan 8th, 2011 - If you have been following what I do, then you already know that my parents typically take me to Lowes Build and Grow on Saturdays to build some of their little projects. This week they had the little Game Box. Normally there is a big crowd for this but this morning, it was quite empty. We got the project box and started working. The project was very simple as we only had to hammer a the sides, base and the lid. We were done quickly and we took our patch and certificate. Just as we were about to leave, my friend Arjun and his Dad also came by. This was the first project for 2011 and I am looking forward to many more. I like doing these projects. |
