Meeting Buddy in the Dinosaur at the Dallas Museum
Apr 01, 2012 - When I woke up this morning, my parents told me that they were going to take me to the Dallas Museum of Nature and Science to meet Buddy the T-Rex from the Dinosaur Train TV show on KERA. I thought since it was April !st, they were playing a trick on me, but fortunately they were not. Buddy was going to make a special appearance at the museum and we could get to take a picture with him. We drove down to the museum and as soon as we got in, they told us that Buddy was making an appearance at the Children's Museum section. We ran down quickly and stood in line (which was really long). We waited patiently for our turn and finally got to meet him in person. I was very excited to see Buddy there. I took my picture quickly so that the other kids could get their turn too. The people at the museum were really nice to organize this for us. We spent the rest of the morning doing other activities arranged by the museum including a Dino dig, a scavenger hunt and also did some work from a nature's guide book. Soon it was lunch time and we went to lunch at a temple close by which had a vegetarian restaurant. It was called Kalachandji's. I loved their Tamarind water cooler and also their Mango halwa. What a great way to start April.
Its Quiz Time
Mar 9th, 2012 -One of my favorite things to do these days is to play with Post It Notes. I love taking them and writing notes on them to my friends and family. I like to cut them and make patterns with that. Post It Notes are fun. Today I decided to write some quiz questions on them and quizzed my parents. I wrote the question on the front and the answers at the back. I prepared 4 questions - Is the Tabla a kind of drum? - How many days are there in a year? - How many pens are made in a year? - How many computers we have at home? You can see the answers in the pictures below. My dad says I am a budding Siddharth Basu (whoever he is) Post it Notes are fun and I keep messing with them. My parents have found my notes all over the house and they usually have a good laugh over it. Hey, this was not meant to be funny. Its serious stuff.
Assemby Annoucements at School
Mar 5th, 2012 - We have morning assembly at our school and 4 times a week the students at school get to read an announcement at school over the Public Address system. Today was my turn to read the announcements with my friend Swayam. My teacher had provided us with the lines we had to read and I practiced them with my parents for 2-3 days. I got to read the welcome lines and also announce 3 birthdays. It was fun and I was happy I got picked to read the lines and represent my class. See the video below to see what I read.Dr Seuss's The Lorax
Mar 4th, 2012 - On Friday it was Dr Suess's birthday and they released a movie based on his book, The Lorax, the same weekend. I was talking about it all week and so my parents planned a surprise trip for us to go and see the movie today. We have an AMC Fork and Screen movie theatre near our house so we can watch the movie and have lunch at the same time. My parents had already booked the tickets for us the previous day. We reached the theatre a few minutes before the show began. I ordered the kids nuggets meal, my dad ordered some shrimp tacos and my mom tried some Thai Chicken nuggets. The movie was about a boy called Ted and how he meets a guy called Once-ler and how he helps to bring back trees to his city. My dad told me that the voice of Ted was that of Zac Efron (I once brought a book about him from the library). I liked the movie and laughed a few times. I found one scene funny when the Lorax says "Is that a woman?" We enjoyed our lunch and the movie and I was happy my parents brought me to see the show.
The Hawaiian Luau
Feb 12th, 2012 - Today was the first Sunday since the football season ended so my Dad was a bit confused as to what he should do on a Sunday afternoon. He was doing some work on his computer and I decided to do some painting. My art today is called "The Hawaiian Luau". Its a very abstract piece where the painting looks like the map of the USA, but I call it the Hawaiian Luau. Someday you will get it. Hope you like it.
Valentines Card Creator at Lowes Build and Grow
Feb 11, 2012 - Every year, Lowes does a special project during the weekend just before Valentine's Day and this was no different. Our project today was a "Valentine Card Creator". It was a fairly simple project where we built a box that can be closed or left partially open and become a board for creating Valentine's day card. I also loved this project because it had a lot of stickers and some Valentine's Day cards. The ladies who run the event for us were very nice and gave us some candy and stickers. We finished the project and I also purchased a Lowes Build and Grow young builder's tooklit which came with a small hammer, an apron and some goggles. Maybe I will post a picture of that soon. Besides that I had a normal weekend day. We did a little shopping and played at home. Last few days before ....not Valentine's Day but the day after...
