Home Depot Kids Clinic in Irving - Pencil Box
Aug 6th, 2011 - For the last year,my parents have been signing me up for the Build and Grow sessions at Lowes. Lowes has these session once every 2 or three weeks but Home Depot has them only on the 1st Saturday of every month. Today as the first time we were able to go. Unlike Lowes, you don't have to register with Home Depot. You just have to show up. The Home Depot sessions are from 9 AM - noon and we showed up at around 9:30. It was quite packed and very busy. We stood in line to register and get our kit which was a pencil box today (everyone is having a Back to School theme). The box could be built with only a couple of steps but it was rather difficult to push the nails in. I did need my dad's help on this. The Lowes kits are much easier for kids my age. After we built the box, came the fun part of coloring the box. We chose the Home Depot color, Orange for the main color and then used green for the lid. One of the nice Home Depot helpers gave me a plate with the colors and a nice brush. This was the first time I was able to paint something and it was a lot of fun. My hands and face were all messy but I guess thats the fun of it. After we completed the painting, I collected my certificate and my pin which I attached to my apron. The next one at Home Depot will be in September. |
Fun at the Hawaiian Falls in the Colony
July 31th, 2011 - Today is the last day of July and my parents took me to a water park near our house called the Hawaiian Falls. My parents wanted to go there for a long time but we were just not able to make it. We went with my friend Sidharth and his family and my other friends Sachet and Sunchit and their parents. We first went to Jason's Deli for lunch and then headed to the Hawaiian Water Falls. We got there around 2 and it was really hot so we headed right to the Wave Pool (Bay Breaker). The Wave Pool is a nice place to just hang out and wait for the waves. If you are lucky to find a tube, you can have more fun with that. We spent an hour there and then went to Kona Cooler where you can take a walk. After the walk, we went to the place where kids my age and height can slide and have more fun, the Keiki Cove. There is a lot of water there and 3 big slides. |

Puzzle Day 2011
July 24th, 2011 - I declared today, July 24th, 2011 as the official Puzzle Day at our house. You may wonder what inspired me to do that. We had some friends over for dinner and one of my friends, Sameeksha and I took out a box of puzzles and completed about 4 puzzles and there were 8-10 more left so I decided to finish them all this today. These were puzzles about horses, dinosaurs, steam engines, musical instruments etc. I also pulled out my big world map puzzle which took me a while to complete. I then into my Handy Manny puzzle which is a puzzle with Handy Manny, Mr Lopart, Kelly and all the tools. I finished the puzzle day with the most difficult puzzle I have, the US Presidents. |
Christmas Day 2011
Dec 25th, 2011 - The most exciting day of the year (coming in just a bit ahead of my birthday) is Christmas Day of course. I had called Santa a few days ago and left him a message with the things that I wanted and I was really hoping he would deliver. Of course that depended on nice or naughty I had been this year. The truth is that I think I was mostly nice but I did have a few bad days along the way. I was hoping he would give me some leeway. After all, I am only 5 years old. We slept early on Christmas Eve to give Santa enough time to stop and drop the gifts. I had left him a glass of Milk and some cookies under the Christmas tree. I left some carrots for the reindeer too. I woke up, brushed my teeth (rather reluctantly) and ran to the Christmas tree to see if Santa had come............and HE DID!!!. I tore open all the gifts in a matter of minutes. He got me everything I wanted. I got the Crayon Maker, a Paul Frank clock, Dinosaur train toys, books and puzzles. It was super exciting. I wish it could be Christmas everyday!!! I hope you all got what you wanted for Christmas. |
My first stage performance - Sleeping Beauty
Dec 12th, 2011 - This year, I had enrolled in the Drama Club at school. This is the first year that they had opened it up to Kindergartners. Ever since school started back in August, we would practice for this play. There were 3 other Kindergartners with me in the play and we were given the role of a griffin. I had practiced my one line, which I had to say out LOUD "Whatever!, they are no match for the griffins.". Our play was at the school on a Monday evening. My parents dropped my off about an hour before the show. Our drama teachers made me wear my mask. The show started promptly at 7 PM. There must have been about 100 people in the audience. My scene was in Act 2. When time came for us, we ran on the stage, scared everyone and I said my line. I think everyone could hear me. When the show was over, we all came on the stage and took a bow. It was a great experience for me to do this play. |
